Our Story

We are a Mum and Daughter creative duo.

‘The Garden Project’ is about our joint love of nature, and how the months we spent together during lock-down, in our garden, inspired us to create art and patterns and even a giant 8ft gecko!

We are both Artists inspired by each other. Polly loves my iris and leaf paintings and I in turn love her beautiful contemporary botanical patterns.

This is the start of our journey and our first collection, but we do both keep getting just a little bit giddy about it, … so I think we might just keep going and see where this takes us.

Why Being Creative has Got Us Through…

Part of our story is the fact that we have both faced adversity and found that being creative helped us through those hardest of times. Polly has diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma cancer when she was 19 and then I was had breast cancer in 2019 just before the pandemic. So we know all about how being creative can help you get through life’s ups and downs.

So when the pandemic arrived and Polly had to come home, (from doing her Performance Costume MA) the upside, was that we had lots of time to spend in our garden and so there was much talk of how we might collaborate together. Although ‘ The Garden Project” is our first collection, our actual first artistic endeavor was an 8ft Gecko ! Yes strange things happened in lock-down!
